This Is My Story, Every Chapter - mixed media on canvas - 24x30

$2,000.00

Inspired by the landscape of OK Falls, “This Is My Story, Every Chapter” brings together the presence of lake, mountain, and tree forms through layered torn paper. The work began as a response to place — the stillness of the water, the rhythm of the hills, the movement of trees shaped by weather and time — but gradually evolved into something more personal and reflective.

As each torn fragment was placed, the piece became a meditation on memory and lived experience: the way moments accumulate quietly over the years, overlapping like layers in a landscape. Some passages feel calm and open, while others hold tension, movement, or density, echoing the emotional shifts that accompany different chapters of life.

A willow-like form emerges within the composition, offering a sense of resilience and continuity. It bends and reaches like a quiet reminder of adaptation, growth, and endurance through changing seasons.

Like many of my PaperScapes, this work exists between observation and emotion. The landscape is recognizable, yet it also becomes internal — shaped as much by memory and feeling as by geography itself. Viewers often discover new forms and relationships over time, allowing the work to unfold slowly, much like the layered nature of personal history.
